Career Exploration Event for Middle School Girls*
Vermont’s career and technical education centers offer youth opportunities to build skills and experience in a variety of high-paying and in-demand job sectors in the state and across the country.
To this day, female students remain underrepresented in many tech center programs.
At VWW, we believe girls and gender-expansive youth need exposure to these opportunities at a young age so that they are aware of, and can make informed decisions about, the education and career pathways available to them in high school and beyond.
Career Challenge Day offers girls* in grades 6-8 a supportive, empowering environment to explore all that their local tech center has to offer.
As part of Career Challenge Day, visiting students get hands-on exposure to tech programs: they meet instructors, hear from current students, and try using tools and equipment in each classroom
*Vermont Works for Women welcomes anyone who identifies as a girl regardless of assignment at birth to attend Career Challenge Day. Our programs also welcome youth who are non-binary or gender expansive who are comfortable in a girl-centered space.
