STEP UP TO HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION
Step Up to Highway Construction is an intensive, nine-week job-training program to prepare women for On the Job Training (OJT) programs offered by the Vermont Agency of Transportation and for skilled work in the fields of highway construction and maintenance. Topics include bridgework, roadway, blueprint reading, introduction to heavy equipment operation and more.
This program is a partnership between Vermont Works for Women and the Vermont Agency of Transportation. It was offered FREE to all participants from Jan. 29 through March 29, 2007. Classes were held Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Montpelier, Vermont.

Funding for this program provided by the Federal Highway Administration. Offering a wide range of training opportunities and support services to women and minorities for entry into and advancement in the highway construction industry.
