About Us

A 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 1987, Vermont Works for Women has an extensive record of accomplishment in working with women, young adults, educators and employers and in developing, implementing, and growing innovative programs.

Our mission is to help women and girls explore, pursue and excel in nontraditional careers that pay a livable wage.

VWW works to address the needs of women in Vermont to earn a livable wage and to succeed despite numerous personal, educational and economic barriers to employment. We also work to educate women and girls about the wide array of nontraditional career opportunities available to them, many of which may have never occurred to them to pursue. We serve women and girls from all over the state, from a wide variety of races, ethnicities, economic backgrounds, sexual orientations and physical abilities. The National Association of Mayors, the City of Burlington, the Vermont Governor’s Commission on Women, the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board, the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration have all honored VWW for the quality of its work. Two of our programs, Rosie’s Girls and Step Up for Women, have been replicated nationally. Our former name was Northern New England Tradeswomen.

We are located in Winooski, Vermont, at 32 Malletts Bay Avenue in the O'Brien Community Center building. See our Contact Us page for directions to our offices.
